11 Bands For People Who Want To Sell Their Soul To Rock ‘n’ Roll – pt.6

This time we’re talking about another band that was huge in the 1980s. Hair, bandanas, over-the-top-stage-performances and a hot as hell lead singer are just a few add-ons you get on top of their awesome music. Sounds good? Well then, let’s get to the part where you sell your soul.

Part 6/11: Sell Your Soul To Guns N’ Roses

The basics

Guns N’ Roses is an American band formed in the mid 80s. Their debut album Appetite for Destruction is the most successful debut album in the history of music and they are one of the most successful bands of the 80s in general. Their influence on the rock/heavy metal world was and is massive.

While Axl Rose has been Guns N’ Roses’ lead singer ever since the beginning, fans were thrilled when the band announced early in 2016 that the original members Slash and Duff McKagan would finally rejoin the band after about 20 years and multiple lineup changes in between.

Who should sign up for selling their soul?

As expected Guns N’ Roses is definitly worth checking out if you’re an 80s rock fan. So if you didn’t yet, you might also want to take a look at the previous part of this series that was about Bon Jovi (11 Bands For People Who Want To Sell Their Soul To Rock ‘n’ Roll – pt.5 – Bon Jovi).

But they are also a classic hard rock/punk inspired band, sometimes with a blues-based vibe and sometimes with a more sleaze rock or even heavy metal edge to it. So, listen up AC/DC (also featured in a previous part 11 Bands For People Who Want To Sell Their Soul To Rock ‘n’ Roll – pt.2 – AC/DC), Nazareth, Nine Inch Nails, Queen, The Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, T-Rex, Led Zeppelin, Cheap Trick, Van Halen, Sex Pistols, Fall Out Boy, Bullet For My Valentine and Nickelback fans and sell your soul to them! (Just gonna call them a fusion band from now on cause damn that’s a lot of influence!)

If you like or want more from Slash; Slash feat. Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators are also worth a try!

How I signed the contract & a short review

I’ve been sitting in front of my screen now for fucking 5 minutes and I just don’t know, really. I think it’s just another one of these classic rock ‘n’ roll tales I’ve told you many times before; I probably just heard of them and then bought a CD when I came across it.

But even though I can barely remember how I signed the contract here’s my short review: It was worth it, they are amazing, go buy yourself an album now! (It seems, in contrast to Axl Rose and some fans, I love their Greatest Hits record but I get why he tried to block it.)

November Rain (Use Your Illusion I)

Welcome to the Jungle (Appetite for Destruction)

The last one is actually a Bob Dylan cover but it gives you a very good impression of Guns N’ Roses’ style and Axl Rose’s way of singing.
